Elias Krantz: Night Ice – CE17

Posted 2011-05-11

Besides his work with the groups Happiness and Mackaper, he has been working on this follow up over the last two years and the result will be released on Country & Eastern on May 23rd. It’s hard to avoid hyperbole in texts like these but this album is indeed a huge step forward from his debut. More collaborations with a wide range of different musicians have allowed more ideas to be explored and developed. The result is an album in which your favorite track changes with every listen. Its brave, dynamic and as pure as they come. An album worthy of the two years spent on it’s details.

Elias’ first album “Island Rock” was released via Airwaves in 2007 to rave reviews. While listening to his new album you might be reminded of Krautrock legends such as NEU! and Can, as well as modern post-rock in the vein of Tortoise, Four Tet and Caribou, but obviously Elias has a very personal and unique musical language.

Elias has recorded most of the album himself but has cooperated with drummer Christopher Cantillo, organist Per Nystörm (The Concretes) violinist Jonas Lindgren (Fläskkvartetten), Sigge Krantz (Bitter Funeral Beer Band, Don Cherry) and the senegalese kora virtuoso Solo Cissokho.

He is backed up live by Joel Danell (Musette a.o), Willam Carlstedt (Chicken El Diablo a.o.) och Christopher Cantillo (Anna Von Hauswolff a.o.). Release conserts on may 19 at Mosebacke, Stockholm and may 20 at Debaser in Malmö.

In the presskit you will find the press release in english and in swedish, hires photos of Elias and the cover art plus an mp3 with Tody Motmot and links to other stuff.
