Input
I’m born in 1942 and did not start making music until I was 20 when I had some vivid visions of what I wanted to do. So I started practising drums very intensively and threw myself into the jazz world. Very soon I discovered Indian classical music when I heard an album with Ravi Shankar and Chatur Lal on sitar and tabla. So I hitchhiked to India (which unfortunately young people are unable to do in these terrible times) in order to learn. I found great teachers in Hindustani as well as Karnatic music and spent a couple of years there practising and recording in their great tradition. Later, in the seventies I spent a couple of years in Ghana with my family getting involved in that great tradition as well.
My main teachers – Jai Guru!

Output
Since 1964 I’ve been doing stuff and I’m happy to share some of it here. From the early jazz music and playing with great musicians and discovering, recording and learning some of the riches in the Indian, African and contemporary musics till whatever music I’ve put out after all of that. Hope you find something that tickles your fancy. – Bengt Berger a.k.a. Beche or Sopandev
