Pt Taranath Centenary celebrations

Here we will post photos and videos from the Berger Knutsson Spering tour of India in October 2015 and the celebrations of tabla guru Pandit Taranath.

In the year 2015 tabla guru Pandit Taranath would have been 100 and we gurubhais are celebrating this with a series of concert all through this year. In October there were concerts in Manipur, Mangalore (where he was born), Anandashram in Kerala, Parse village and Kala Arts Academy in Panjim.

As I am actually one of the older students of Guruji, the Berger Knutsson Spering trio was invited to play at these concert celebrations for Pandit Taranath.
This was a great experience for us, to be given the chance to perform and present our music and exchange our experiences and memories in in the company of all the sincere students of our guru.

Here we play at Kala Arts Academy in Panjim together with our young tabla gurubhai Jayesh Rege.
The Berger Knutsson Spering trio visited Anandashram in Kanhangad together with all the Gurubhais in October 2015. On October 5 we gave an offering in the temple, a set of our own music. Our concert was filmed by Jöns Jönsson and Anna Intemann.

As part of the Centenary celebrations for our Guru Pandit Taranath in October 2015, The Berger Knutsson Spering trio travelled and gave concerts with our gurubhais in Manipal, Mangalore, Andandashram, Parse and Panjim. When we visited Anandashram in Kanhangad in October 2015 Gurubhandu Pandit Omkar Gulvady gave an offering in the temple, a tabla solo in Trital.
